Join us for this unique opportunity to hear Australia’s first female and 11th Nobel Laureate, Professor Elizabeth Blackburn AC, discuss gender equity and diversity issues in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) disciplines. A prize-winning molecular scientist, Professor Blackburn is a strong advocate for women forging a career in science and is recognised as a true inspiration to women, and to all Australians.

Following her keynote address, Professor Blackburn will participate in a lively panel discussion on the barriers and challenges for women in science. She will be joined by panel members:

  • Dr Geraldine Richmond, Presidential Chair in Science, University of Oregon
  • Professor Alan Rowan, Director, Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, UQ

We are pleased to announce that Jillian Whiting, UQ alumnus, Journalist, and TV Presenter, will be our MC and facilitator for this exclusive event. Jillian has a wealth of experience across television, radio and print over the past 20 years. She is a presenter on Channel Seven's The Great Day Out, and freelance reporter for Sunrise.

This event is taking place as part of the official program for the 2017 International Conference on BioNano Innovation hosted by UQ’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology.
